For some people the worst thing about a netbook or ultraportable notebook is that they typically lack an optical drive. The lack of an optical drive won’t bother some people but on occasion, you really need one to access some data or to make a copy of something for someone else.
Apricorn has a new and small portable optical drive called the EZ Writer II Portable Optical drive is a CD/DVD reader and writer. The little optical drive weighs 11.7 ounces and measures 0.84″ H x 5.75″ W x 5.95″ L.
The thing can burn CDs at up to 24x and DVDs at up to 8x. It gets all the power it needs from a “Y” adapter and two USB ports on your computer. It also ships with Software for playing media on your computer and burning CD/DVD discs. The drive sells for $79 before a $25 mail-in rebate.
